Written Statement on the Report of the Special Rapporteur (SR) on Contemporary Forms of Slavery
In September 2011, Franciscans International submitted a written statement to the Human Rights Council 18th Session, on the report of the Special Rapporteur (SR) on Contemporary Forms of Slavery, its causes and consequences, and her ongoing commitment to address the issue of child slavery, with a special focus on the mining and quarrying sectors.
With reference to the Report, FI wished to draw the attention of the Special Rapporteur to the matter of children working in mines and quarries spread across India.

Written Statement on the Violence against Children as a Result of Harmful Traditional Practices
In February 2011, during the Human Rights Council XVI Session, FI submitted a written statement to draw the attention of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) on Violence against Children on the issue of violence against children as a result of harmful traditional practices in western Africa.
