28th Humam Rights Council
FI was very active during the 28th Human Rights Council in March, bringing the voice of the grassroots to the UN and advocating for the rights of the most marginalised.
It delivered a total of 11 oral statements:
- Freedom of religion and belief in India
- Right to food in India
- Human Rights Situation in Papua, Indonesia – extra judicial execution
- Human Rights Situation in Australia – asylum seekers and refugees
- Panel on Death Penalty – case of death penalty in Indonesia
- Panel on Human Rights and Climate Change
- Madagascar - protection of street children
- Children in armed conflict in DRC
- Children's rights in Côte d'Ivoire
- Business and Financial Complicity in Human Rights Abuses
- UPR Statement on Bolivia (mining and human rights)
FI also co-hosted three side-events to the Human Rights Council:
- Freedom of religion in Sri Lanka
- Behind closed doors: Human Rights in West Papua
- Climate Change and Human Rights: The Way Forward in the Human Rights Council
