Special Procedures and Urgent Actions

The Special Procedures System is the mechanism of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) used to bring specific thematic and regional concerns to the Independent Experts or Special Rapporteurs appointed by the United Nations.

Franciscans International alerts the HRC on urgent human rights concerns. FI submits urgent appeals, raises awareness on specific issues, organises meetings between Franciscans and UN experts and contributes to reports of the UN experts.

This mechanism provides the opportunity to alert the HRC about urgent human rights concerns through a process called 'Urgent Actions'.
